Roughriders unveil Centennial initiatives

The Saskatchewan Roughriders unveiled details surrounding the club's Centennial Program which will be celebrated throughout the 2010 season
The Centennial celebrations will provide a unique opportunity for Rider fans across the province and throughout the country to honour the team's heroes and builders of the past century, and relive the great moments that have shaped the Roughriders' rich history.
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the organization and the people of Saskatchewan," stated Riders Board of Director's Chairman Rob Pletch. "The success this organization has achieved is no accident as the Club continues to strive to achieve its vision as the most respected CFL franchise."
"Our Advisory Council has been working closely with the Rider staff and a small group of volunteer planners, who have been hard at work over the past year getting ready to celebrate our Centennial year," stated Senior Vice-President of Potash Operations for the Mosaic Company and honorary Chair of the Riders 2010 Centennial celebrations Norm Beug. "Starting today and continuing through to the Grey Cup in 2010, we have created many special events and will implement a number of legacy projects, which we believe will fuel enthusiasm for all."
"We intend to celebrate our history by paying tribute to our fans, shareholders, players, coaches, volunteers and business partners," commented Riders President/CEO Jim Hopson. "Specifically, we've designed our programming for 2010 to take place province-wide and all communities are encouraged to participate in our celebrations."
The Riders 2010 Centennial focuses on five key themes: 1) Heritage and documentation of our history; 2) Including and engaging as many communities across Saskatchewan as possible; 3) Focus on future leader development through educational initiatives; 4) Recognize the differences in needs and interests between the four generations of stakeholders who have contributed to the 100 years of our success 5) Build a sustainable program framework that reinforces the Rider's continued contribution to Saskatchewan.
