Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
FRISCO, Texas - Adam Fox went 3-for-5, scored three times and drove in five as Frisco knocked off Corpus Christi 15-7 Monday afternoon in the series finale at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The Hooks, who finished their longest road trip of the season with a 2-10 record, fall to 1-5 in the second half and 31-45 overall.
Corpus Christi starter Sean Walker worked through the first two frames with relative ease before running into trouble in the third. With one away, singles by Tim Gradoville and Elvis Andrus brought Casey Benjamin to the plate. Walker then committed his first balk of the season, giving the RoughRiders a 1-0 lead.
Walker had trouble finding the strike zone, walking the next three batters as Frisco staked itself to a two-run advantage. One out later, Fox knocked a two-run single up the middle before Thomas Berkery's two-run triple put the RoughRiders up by six.
Frisco starter Thomas Diamond turned in a fine performance, carrying a one-hit shutout into the sixth. The Plano resident went a total of six innings, allowing two runs off four hits. He walked one and struck out four.
The Hooks pushed across a pair of runs in the sixth. Back-to-back singles by Wladimir Sutil and Orlando Rosales staged Richie Paz's one-out RBI single to right field. In the next at-bat, Diamond uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Rosales to score Corpus Christi's second run.
Drew Sutton drove in four runs over the final three frames, including his eighth home run of the season, a two-run shot to right field.
Sutil and Rosales combined to go 4-for-7 out of the eight and nine hole, recording four runs and an RBI. Newcomer Val Majewski went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The Hooks are off until after the All-Star break when they open a six-game homestand against the Tulsa Drillers Thursday night at 7:05.
