
'Riders, Diamond sweep Hooks

Thomas Diamond tossed a season-high six innings and seven RoughRiders has multi-hit games as the RoughRiders (49-27) defeated the Corpus Christi Hooks by a score of 15-7 Monday afternoon at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The Frisco offense erupted early as they scored six times in the third inning chasing Corpus Christi starter Sean Walker in the process. Adam Fox had a two run single and Thomas Berkery hit a two run triple in the inning.
Frisco starter Thomas Diamond (2-1) went a season-high six innings allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out four and walking just one.
Fox later added to the lead with his 5th home run of the year, a three-run shot, that extended the Frisco lead to 9-2 in the sixth inning.
At the plate, Fox led the RoughRiders going 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Dustin Majewski and Elvis Andrus also collected three hits in the contest. Steve Murphy reached base for the 17th consecutive home contest as well.
The victory was the RoughRiders' sixth straight and 12th in their last 15 games. It was also the sixth series sweep for the RoughRiders in 2008. The current six game win streak for Frisco is a season-best.
A crowd of 6,655 were on hand to watch the victory.
The RoughRiders will enjoy a two day break for the Texas League All-Star Game on Wednesday, June 25 at Springfield, MO. Outfielders Ben Harrison and Steve Murphy, catcher Emerson Frostad, shortstop Elvis Andrus, and pitcher Trey Hodges will all participate in the game. The RoughRiders will resume play Thursday, June 26 in Springfield at 7:00 pm. Michael Schlact (4-5, 4.81) is the scheduled starter following the break.
