
Riders Sweep Doubleheader Against Amarillo, Scoring 10 Runs In Each Game

AMARILLO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders picked up a doubleheader sweep against the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Tuesday, winning both games by a score of 10-2 in Amarillo.
The Riders (23-12) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first game of the doubleheader on a sacrifice fly by Cody Freeman against Amarillo (14-22) starter Billy Corcoran (0-1) in the opening frame.
Leading 1-0 entering the third inning, the RoughRiders sent 14 batters to the plate on their way to an eight-hit, nine-run inning. Eight different Frisco batters secured a hit, with the biggest coming from Liam Hicks and Maximo Acosta who each snagged RBI singles.
After waiting over thirty minutes to retake the mound, Ryan Garcia (2-2) allowed a two-run single to Deyvison De Los Santos in the bottom of the third inning, rounding out the game's scoring. Garcia tossed 5.0 innings, surrendering just two runs on three hits and three walks while fanning five.
Andy Rodriguez finished the contest, spinning 2.0 hitless innings while striking out two.
Offensively, the RoughRiders managed 14 hits. Geisel Cepeda led the way with a three-hit affair that included a double. Keyber Rodriguez doubled and tripled as Liam Hicks, Aaron Zavala and Maximo Acosta each added two hits. Acosta's three RBI led the Frisco attack.
In Game 2 of the doubleheader, Ben Anderson (2-2) was tagged for a run in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by De Los Santos. Anderson settled in to go 5.0 innings, allowing just a run on five hits and no walks while punching out a career-high eight.
After being blanked in the first, the RoughRiders scored in four consecutive innings. In the top of the second the Riders tied the game on an Abimelec Ortiz double and then took the lead when Keyber Rodriguez drove him home with a two-bagger.
In the top of the third inning, Frisco extended their lead to 5-1 with Freeman's fifth homer of the season, a three-run bomb to left off Jamison Hill (1-3).
The Riders offense continued to thrive, scoring four runs in the top of the fourth to make it a 9-1 advantage. Cooper Johnson drove in the first run of the frame with a single and Zavala capped the scoring with a double.
Johnson snagged another RBI with a single in top of the fifth, making it back-to-back 10-run efforts for the Frisco offense.
De Los Santos drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the sixth against Ricky DeVito, cutting the deficit to 10-2. DeVito spun 2.0 innings, conceding one run on one hit and one walk while punching out three.
Frainyer Chavez, Freeman, Rodriguez and Johnson collected multi-hit performances. Freeman's three RBIs led the team.
Across both games, four Riders pitchers combined to allow just four runs across 14 innings as the Frisco offense put up 20 runs on 26 hits. The RoughRiders managed seven doubles, a triple and a homer on the day.
Next, the RoughRiders continue a six-game road series with the Diamondbacks affiliated Amarillo Sod Poodles at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, May 16th. The RoughRiders are expected to turn to RHP Nick Krauth (3-0, 6.15) against RHP Dylan File (2-2, 3.69) for the Sod Poodles.
