Riders Ink Deal with Defensive Lineman Tim Williams

Williams (6'3-252) joins the Riders after three NFL seasons, spending time with the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks. The 27-year-old was selected by the Ravens in the third round (78th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft and went on to play 15 games with Baltimore, making ten tackles and two sacks. In 2019, Williams played five games with Green Bay.
Collegiately, Williams spent four seasons at the University of Alabama (2013-16) where he developed into a disruptive force on the defence over 34 games played. As a senior, the Louisiana native was named second team All-America by the Associated Press and Sports Illustrated, earned All-SEC second team and was a candidate for the Butkus Award. That season he collected 31 tackles,16 tackles for loss (fourth in SEC), nine sacks, 12 quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery he returned 23 yards for a touchdown. Williams was a consensus four-star prospect coming out of high school and was ranked the number one player in Louisiana. He chose Alabama over offers from Miami, LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Southern California and Texas A&M.
