Riders add Jason Armstead to practice roster

Saskatchewan Roughrider head coach Ken Miller announced today that import receiver/returner Jason Armstead has been added to the team's practice roster.

Armstead (5'10 - 175 lbs) has spent the past five seasons in the CFL. He dressed in 14 regular season games with Montreal and Winnipeg last season and had 44 kickoff returns for 960 yards to go along with 76 punt returns for 728 yards and a touchdown.

Armstead was dealt to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from the Roughriders for Corey Holmes and Chris Getzlaf midway through the 2007 season. Armstead played in 23 games for the Roughriders in 2006 and 2007. The 29-year old spent his first two seasons in the CFL with the Ottawa Renegades where he was named East Division's Special Teams Player of the Year nominee in 2004.

In 81 career CFL games, Armstead has 226 receptions for 3,222 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also has 199 kickoff returns for 3,865 yards and 331 punt returns for 3,212 yards and four touchdowns.
