Ricketts Homers in the 8th; Claws Rally for 2-1 Win in Game One of SAL NDCS

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Caleb Ricketts hit a two run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the BlueClaws a 2-1 win over Hudson Valley on Tuesday night in Game One of the South Atlantic League Northern Division Championship Series.

Jersey Shore took the first game of the best-of-three series and can lock up a spot in the Championship Series with a win on Thursday at Hudson Valley.

Andrew Walling, who got the last two outs of the eighth inning, threw a scoreless ninth and earned the win. Jack Dallas threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief for the BlueClaws, who clinched a playoff spot on the last day of the regular season.

Hudson Valley broke a scoreless tie with the game's first run in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out RBI single by Rafael Flores. He brought home Alexander Vargas, who had tripled with two outs off Christian McGowan.

McGowan came out after five innings, allowing one run on just four hits.

Renegades starter Yorlin Calderon came out with two out in the sixth. Joel Valdez got an out to end that inning and then threw a scoreless seventh, getting Justin Crawford and Bryan Rincon with two men on base to end the inning.

Ricketts' home run was his second game-winner of the season after hitting one on August 23rd at Wilmington.

Game two of the series is Thursday night in Wappingers Falls.
