
Crawdads Drop Game 1 to the Drive 3-2

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads fell 3-2 in a close Game 1 of the Southern Divisional Series against the Greenville Drive.
The Crawdads struck first with a run in the second inning. Cody Freeman walked and moved to second on a ground out by Daniel Mateo. Yosy Galan singled to left, bringing in Freeman standing up as the throw went wide.
Greenville tied the game in the fourth, again in the fifth, and once again in the seventh to take a 3-2 lead.
The 'Dads got a run back in the bottom half of the inning. Daniel Mateo hit a deep ball to right-center for a triple and came in on a ground ball to the shortstop by Cooper Johnson.
The Crawdads threatened in the bottom of the ninth. Yosy Galan roped a ball to left that bounced just a few inches on the foul side of the outfield wall. Galan worked the count and eventually drew a two-out walk. Johnson managed a six pitch at bat, but ultimately struck out ot end the game.
The series will now shift to Greenville for Game 2 on Thursday evening. Game 3, if necessary, will also be in Greenville on Friday night.
