Wichita Wingnuts News Release
WICHITA, KS (July 21, 2015) - With the recent completion of the baseball tournament at the Pan-Am Games in Toronto, the Wichita Wingnuts welcomed back former Major League pitcher Scott Richmond to their rotation on Tuesday afternoon. To make room for the veteran on their roster, left-handed pitcher Al Yevoli was traded to tonight's opponent the Sioux Falls Canaries. Finally, Taylor Oldham was sent to Fargo-Moorhead in exchange for future considerations.
The 35-year old Richmond, a native of Vancouver, was part of the gold medal winning Canadian Team at the Pan-Am Games. Team Canada won the tournament courtesy of their 7-6 extra inning victory over Team USA on Sunday. Richmond returns after having made two starts with the Wingnuts in late June. He has allowed eight runs, just four of them earned, in 11.0 innings and has struck out eight without issuing a walk.Â
Yevoli has made the second most appearances in the league and owns a 3-0 record with a 3.86 ERA this season. He will head to Sioux Falls as the player to be named later in the earlier deal that brought Harrison Kain to Wichita.
Oldham, who was last season's Unsung Hero Award winner, has been on the disabled list since July 9th. The utility player was the starting left fielder on opening night in Joplin, but was injured attempting to make a diving catch. He returned after a few weeks and was hitting .250 in 19 games with five RBI.
The Wingnuts and Sioux Falls will continue a four-game series tonight at 7:05 p.m. For information on season tickets, group outings, and party packages, call the Wingnuts' main office at (316) 264-NUTS, or visit the Wingnuts' official website at www.wichitawingnuts.com.
