TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Harrisburg Senators will meet in game two of a three-game series...The Flying Squirrels overcame an early 2-0 deficit to knock off the Senators 5-3 in the opener of the three-game series at Metro Bank Park on Friday night.
TONIGHT'S STARTER: Right-hander David Mixon gets the start in game two of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Received a no decision after allowing two runs on five hits over five innings in his last start against Altoona on 5/3...Struck out four batters and walked one...Gave up a run on a two-out, RBI infield single off of the bat of Altoona catcher Kris Watts...Other run allowed came on a Jordy Mercer sacrifice fly...Left with a 5-2 lead...Three of the five hits he allowed were infield singles...Allowed the leadoff man to reach in three of his five innings on the mound...Leadoff man scored both runs...Did not work a perfect inning...Threw 81 pitches, 51 strikes...Recorded seven fly outs, four ground outs, and four strike outs...Has allowed just five runs over his last 23 2/3 innings of work after giving up four runs in five innings in his Double-A debut 4/11 at Bowie...Is 0-for-4 at the plate with three strike outs.
Right-hander Brad Meyers gets the nod in game two of the series for the Senators...Makes his 2010 debut after beginning the season in Extended Spring Training...Made nine starts with Harrisburg last season and went 5-1 with a 2.25 ERA...Struck out 43 batters and walked 11 in 28 innings of work...Won four of his final five starts...Began the season with Advanced-A Potomac and went 6-2 with a 1.43 ERA in 15 games, 14 starts...Struck out 65 and walked 21 in 88 1/3 innings...Named a Carolina League All-Star...Did not allow more than three runs in any of his 24 outings...His 1.72 overall ERA was the lowest in all of the full-season leagues...Named the Washington Nationals 2009 Minor League Pitcher of the Year...Entered the 2009 season with a 10-8 record and 3.91 ERA in 32 games, 31 starts...Originally selected in the 5th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft...Attended Loyola Marymount University (CA).
