WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento River Cats (40-25) won their fourth consecutive game on Monday, topping the Fresno Grizzlies (30-35) by a score of 5-0 at Raley Field. With the win, Sacramento is now 15 games above .500 and has a four-and-a-half game lead over second-place Tucson in the PCL South.
2B Adam Morrissey extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a 2-for-4 performance. He singled in the third inning and hit a grand slam in the seventh. 1B Dan Johnson also homered in the game.
LHP John Rheinecker (5-4) earned the win, allowing just 3 H in 8.0 IP. RHP Ryan Jensen (4-4) took the loss. He allowed 3 ER on 2 H in 6.2 IP.
The River Cats and Grizzlies will play the second game of their four-game series on Tuesday (7:05 pm) at Raley Field. RHP Steve Woodard (6-3) will take the mound for Sacramento. LHP Adam Pettyjohn (2-4) is the scheduled starter for Fresno.
