York Revolution News Release

Mikey Reynolds came through with a two-out bases loaded single to right in the bottom of the ninth inning as the York Revolution came from behind for a wild 8-7 walk-off victory over the Lancaster Barnstormers on Monday night in front of 5,037 fans at Santander Stadium. The Revs have won 10 of their last 11 at home, and even their four-game series with Lancaster at one win apiece, pulling back within two games of the Barnstormers for first. Game three of the four-game series is set for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Down 7-6, Brandon Boggs got the ninth inning started with a walk against Lancaster closer Marcus Walden. Bryan Pounds then chopped a single through the left side, and Andres Perez nailed a single to right-center to load the bases with no outs. Yeicok Calderon (4-for-5) ripped a game-tying opposite field single to left through a drawn-in infield to even the score at 7-7, picking up his third four-hit game of the year and second in three nights. Walden (2-4) came back to record the next two outs, but Reynolds, who came into the game defensively two innings earlier, ended the night with a ground ball single into right, scoring pinch-runner James Simmons and setting off a wild celebration near first base as the Revs tied a franchise record by claiming their eighth walk-off win of the year.

Reynolds' game-winning single was the Revs' season-high-tying 18th hit of the night. Incredibly, York has totaled 17-plus hits in four of the past five games, including three 18-hit performances in those five contests.

The game featured four lead changes over a very entertaining nine innings of play.

York struck early, scoring a first inning run as Wilson Valdez bunted for a single, stole second, and scored on Eric Patterson's double off the Arch Nemesis. The Revs plated two more in the second as Luis De La Cruz drove a sac fly to right and Jose Constanza ripped a two-out RBI single to right-center for a 3-0 lead.

Lancaster battled back, scoring a pair of unearned runs in the third. Luke Hughes reached on an error to start the inning and Anderson Feliz followed with a walk. Zach Collier launched an RBI double to deep right-center, and Kent Matthes added an RBI groundout cutting York's lead to a run.

The Barnstormers then took a 5-3 lead in the fifth, scoring three more runs. Hughes worked a leadoff walk and took third on an errant pickoff throw before scoring on a Feliz single to center. Matthes would later add a sac fly to center, and Charlie Cutler provided one more with a two-out RBI single to left, ending the night of starter Matt Neil who took his seventh straight no-decision.

The Revs forced Lancaster spot starter Chad Beck from the game, loading the bases with two outs in the fifth. Constanza and Valdez both singled with one out, and following a two-out double-steal, Boggs walked to load the bases. Reliever Kyle Simon walked Pounds to force in a run, and fell behind Perez 3-1 before exiting due to injury. Fellow righty Blake Hassebrock came on to induce an inning-ending ground out on one pitch, but the Revs were within 5-4.

York went ahead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Calderon led off with a single to right-center and took second on a wild pitch. Following a walk to Telvin Nash, De La Cruz advanced both runners on a sacrifice bunt. Calderon was called out on a disputed rundown play at the plate for the second out of the inning, but Valdez cashed in with a two-run bloop hit to right, lifting York ahead 6-5.

Matthes tied the game with a solo homer to left off Ron Schreurs with two outs in the seventh, just the second run allowed in 11 appearances by the lefty reliever.

Lancaster took a 7-6 lead in the eighth as Cutler led off with a double to left-center and scored on a bloop single to left by Brian Cavazos-Galvez. Stephen Penney allowed nothing else, however, and Edward Paredes (2-1) earned the win, keeping it a one-run game with a perfect ninth against the top of the order.

Notes: The eight walk-off wins ties the club record established in 2009. The Revs stole five bases as a team (Constanza 3, Valdez 2), and now have 27 steals over the last 12 games including four games of four steals or more on that stretch. Constanza now has 11 steals in 13 games with York, while Valdez now has 11 swipes in his last 12 games, and ranks second in the league with 27 on the season. York improves to 11-2 in one-run games at home. The Revs have won 11 of their last 16 overall. York improves to 11-12 in the season's War of the Roses series. Boggs extended his hitting streak to nine straight games with a third inning single. The Revs improve to 14-9 in games decided in a team's final at-bat. York lefty Rommie Lewis (8-7, 3.53) faces Lancaster southpaw Bryan Morgado (3-5, 3.23) in Tuesday's game. The return of Cowboy Monkey Rodeo headlines the night, while the first 1,500 fans receive a Keychain Giveaway presented by The Lube Center. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
