Reyes Stellar in 5-0 Shutout Loss to New Hampshire

The Harrisburg Senators fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5-0 Friday night at FNB Field. Luis Reyes tossed six and a third innings of one-run ball but the Senators were shutout for the sixth time this season.
Senators starter Luis Reyes allowed his lone run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Johnathan Davis. The right-hander allowed one hit over the first six and a third innings before surrendering a pair of hits in the seventh which ended his outing. However, New Hampshire was unable to score in the inning as reliever Bryan Harper worked out of the jam with a strikeout and pop out to end the threat.
Reyes (3-3) lasted six and a third innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out six and walking two.
"I thought Reyes threw the ball extremely well. For the most part he attacked (New Hampshire hitters) and did a good job of keeping us in the game," Senators manager Matt LeCroy said. "I'm really happy that each time out he seems to be more aggressive. He's starting to realize the more he throws the ball in, that's going to set up the ball away. Hopefully he'll learn from this outing."
Cavan Biggio broke open the game with a three-run home run in the top of the eighth to give New Hampshire a four-run lead. Later in the frame, Connor Panas added an RBI single to put the Fisher Cats ahead 5-0.
New Hampshire starter Jordan Romano (6-0) went five and a third shutout and three hit innings before being removed because of an injury.
Fisher Cat relievers Danny Young and Kirby Snead combined to pitch the final three and two-thirds innings to complete the shutout.
Yadiel Hernandez and Dan Gamache each finished with a pair of hits while Kelvin Gutierrez singled in the ninth to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
"(Romano) did a nice job. We hit some balls well early, but he had his change-up working," LeCroy said, "We had one scoring opportunity (in the sixth) but we didn't get it done and then the eighth inning took us out of it."
The Senators and Fisher Cats continue the series Saturday night. Logan Darnell takes the hill for the Senators against New Hampshire starter Sean Reid-Foley. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at FNB Field.
