Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Bowie, MD- The Bowie Baysox scored 13 runs and pounded out 15 hits en-route to a 13-0 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats on Friday night at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, Maryland. It was the most runs and hits Hartford pitching has allowed in a game this season. Bowie starter Keegan Akin hurled 6.2 scoreless innings and combined with two relievers on the shutout win. The Baysox slugged a pair of two-run home runs and scored four runs in both the second and seventh innings, as they defeated the Yard Goats for the second straight evening. Hartford was held to just four hits, three by first baseman Brian Mundell, and shutout for the third time this season.
The Baysox scored four runs in the second inning off Hartford starter Jesus Tinoco to take a 4-0 lead. Ryan Mountcastle began the rally with an infield hit and Ademar Rifaela followed with a double. Aderlin Rodriguez ripped a solid single to center scoring Mountcastle for the first run of the game. Mike Yastrzemski's grounder brought in another second run, making it 2-0 Bowie. Then, Audry Perez capped the frame with a two-run homer to give the Baysox a 4-0 lead.
The Yard Goats managed only four hits off Baysox starter Keegan Akin who pitched into the seventh inning to record his fourth win of the season.
Bowie added a fifth run in the fourth inning and then Corban Joseph cranked a two-run homer in the fifth to make it 7-0 Baysox. Tinoco was reached for seven runs in five innings of work and tagged with his third loss.
After scoring another run in the sixth inning, the Orioles' affiliate put up four more runs in the seventh inning off reliever Jason Garcia. Mike Yastrzemski and Audry Perez each had two RBI doubles to highlight the frame.
