PEARL, Miss. - The Biscuits (19-16) struggled to stop Elmer Reyes as the Mississippi Braves (18-17) took the series opener at Trustmark Park 6-3 on Saturday night.

With the Biscuits leading 1-0 in the third inning, Elmer Reyes came to the plate with a runner on base. The Nicaragua-native ripped a high fly ball off the wall in left that Willie Argo could not quite catch. The ball bounced off the wall towards the left field corner which allowed Cedric Hunter to score from first and Reyes to come all the way around to score. It was the first ever inside-the-park home run against the Biscuits.

The Braves took a 5-1 lead with a three-run fourth inning. Jeremy Moore doubled-in a run in the sixth to make it a three run game, but the Braves added a run with another Reyes-RBI in the bottom half of the inning to make it 6-2.

Argo drove in the Biscuits first run of the game with a two-out double in the third inning. Ryan Brett drove in the Biscuits final run in the ninth with an RBI-single to cut the deficit to three.

Reyes finished the game a triple-shy of the cycle. He is now 12-for-21 with nine RBI in five games against the Biscuits.

Game two of the series is on Sunday afternoon at 1:00. RH Victor Mateo will take the mound for the Biscuits while RH Aaron Northcraft looks to continue his good stretch for the Braves.
