Kivlehan to Jackson Highlights Roster Moves

JACKSON, TENN. - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster moves that affect the Generals roster. RHP Jochi Ogando has been transferred to Hi-A High Desert and INF Ramon Morla has been transferred to extended spring training in Peoria, AZ. Also, RHP Matt Anderson (will start Sunday) and INF Patrick Kivlehan have been added to Jackson's roster from Hi-A High Desert. Anderson and Kivlehan are active for tonight's series opener at 6:05 p.m. against the Tennessee Smokies at The Ballpark at Jackson.

INF Patrick Kivlehan

Ogando, 20, made 4 starts for the Generals going 0-3, with a 5.54 ERA (8 ER/13.0 IP), with 13 walks and 14 strikeouts. Ogando returns to High Desert where he made 2 starts earlier this season going 0-1, with a 3.38 ERA. In 6 starts total this season he is 0-4, with a 4.71 ERA (11 ER/21.0 IP), 14 walks and 27 strikeouts between the Mavericks and Generals. Ogando, a native of El Cercado, Dominican Republic was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Mariners in 2009.

Anderson, 22, is added from High Desert where he made 7 starts and was 3-2, with a 5.23 ERA (19 ER/32.2 IP), posting 28 strikeouts and 16 walks. In 2 starts during the month of May Anderson has not allowed a run in 11.0 innings, going 2-0, with 5 walks and 11 strikeouts in starts at Lancaster and at Rancho Cucamonga. Anderson was signed by the Mariners as a non-drafted free agent in 2012 after attending California State - Long Beach. He is a native of Claremont, CA.

Morla, 24, has been sent to extended spring training in Peoria, AZ. He batted .200 (19x95) in 26 games for the Generals this season, with 1 home run and 3 RBI. Morla was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Mariners in 2006 out of San Pedro De Macoris, Dominican Republic.

Kivlehan, 24, has recorded 12 multi-RBI games this season for High Desert. His 35 RBI currently ranks 2nd amongst all minor league players. Dating back to August 1, 2013, Kivlehan has driven in 74 runs over 62 games in the minor leagues. During this 62 game stretch leads all minor league players. Overall this season, he is batting .282 (40x142) with 24 runs scored, 9 doubles, 2 triples, 9 home runs, 35 RBI, 12 walks and 2 stolen base. Kivlehan was the Mariners 4th round selection in the 2012 out of Rutgers University. He played four seasons of football before playing baseball his senior season. He was named 2012 Big East Player of the Year, after earning the first Triple Crown in league history. He was named California League Player of the Week on April 21st and was the Northwest League Player of the Year in 2012.

The Generals roster stands at 25 active players with 12 pitchers, 13 position players and 3 on the disabled list.
