York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution blasted three home runs en route to a 5-1 victory over the Somerset Patriots on Thursday evening in front of 4,229 fans at TD Bank Ballpark, kicking off a six-game road trip. The Revs have won back-to-back games, and pull into a tie for first place in the Freedom Division second half standings at 8-6. York also improves to 49-35 overall, matching a season-high at 14 games over .500.
Justin Greene delivered the first tater, a two-run shot to the right of the center field batter's eye in the top of the third inning, giving the Revs a 2-0 lead.
An inning later, Travis Garcia went deep to the same spot, briefly tying Chad Tracy for the team lead with his 11th of the season, doubling the lead to 4-0.
Tracy nailed a line drive off the ad wall in left for his 12th of the year, increasing the margin to 5-0 in the sixth.
Revs starter Logan Williamson (3-3) was the beneficiary of the power display, working six innings to earn the win. The lefty retired 10 of his first 11 on the night before a mid-inning hiccup, walking four of six batters in the fourth and fifth. But after a pair of walks to start the fifth, Williamson made an abrupt turnaround, recording the lead out at third on a failed sacrifice attempt by Scott Kelly, before inducing an inning-ending double play from Jonny Tucker to keep the Patriots off the board.
Williamson allowed only a two-out run in the sixth after a single by Corey Smith and an RBI double from Luis Montanez landed just beyond the reach of diving York outfielders. Williamson had surrendered only one other hit all night.
Beau Vaughan, Stephen Penney, and Rommie Lewis all worked scoreless innings to close it out.
Patriots starter Matt Maloney (5-5) took the loss, charged with all five runs in six innings. He had allowed only five home runs in 11 starts previously, before serving up all three round-trippers for the Revs on Thursday night.
