New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - After earning a hard-fought, 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2009 season opener last Saturday night, the New England Revolution will aim to continue its winning ways when the club visits its Eastern Conference rival, the New York Red Bulls, on Saturday, March 28 at Giants Stadium. The game will be televised nationally on Fox Soccer Channel at 7:30 p.m. ET, with a live half-hour pregame show beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Local radio listeners can tune into the action live on WRKO 680 AM.
This will be the first of three meetings between the Revolution and Red Bulls this season, as the clubs have been designated as "natural rivals." With 15 teams now in the league, each team plays a 28-game base schedule comprised of home and away matches against the other 14 teams, plus two additional rivalry games to round out a 30-game schedule. The Revolution's rivals for the 2009 season are New York and Kansas City, so the Revs will play the Red Bulls twice more after Saturday night: June 7 at Gillette Stadium and Sept. 18 at Giants Stadium.
New England will be looking to extend its impressive regular-season unbeaten run against New York, as the Revs are 6-0-4 in their last 10 meetings with the Red Bulls dating back to the end of the 2005 season. Including postseason matches, New England is currently riding a 12-game unbeaten run (7-0-5) against its conference rival.
