Rapids Make Two Roster Moves Ahead of Saturday's Home Opener

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (Wednesday, March 25, 2009) - The Colorado Rapids announced today that the team has signed defender Michael Holody to a developmental contract. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In additional roster moves, the club waived midfielder John DiRaimondo.

Holody was the Rapids final selection in this year's Major League Soccer SuperDraft when he was taken with the 59th overall pick in the fourth round out of the University of Michigan. He played in six matches with the Rapids this preseason after concluding his collegiate career as Michigan's all-time leader in minutes played with 6,498.

DiRaimondo appeared in 11 games with eight starts playing in 714 minutes in two seasons with the Rapids. In 2008, he earned his first career MLS start and scored his first professional goal against the Kansas City Wizards on April 5. DiRaimondo was also a member of the Rapids 2007 MLS Reserve Division championship team.
