York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution scored four times in the ninth inning for a big 7-4 comeback win over the Bridgeport Bluefish at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Tuesday evening. The Revs have won four consecutive games tying a season-high, and have also won seven of their last eight overall, staying within 5.0 games of first in the Freedom Division. They'll go for the sweep on Wednesday night.

Down a run in the top of the ninth, the Revs claimed their first victory of the season when trailing after eight innings, batting around and rapping six singles, setting a season-high for hits in an inning as well. Andres Perez and Michael Hernandez each slapped singles with one out, and Travis Scott tied the game with a bloop single into left, scoring Perez. With two outs, Danny Gonzalez battled his way on base with a walk, and closer Jorge Julio committed a balk allowing the go-ahead run to score. Salvador Paniagua capped the rally with a two-run single into center, his third of the night.

Bridgeport had taken a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth, scoring an unearned run on Norm Hutchins' sacrifice fly to left. Eddie Rogers had reached on a throwing error by pitcher Adam Thomas on a bunt to lead off the inning, and scored the tying run. Thomas (3-2) allowed only the unearned run, however, earning the win. Revs righty Ricardo Gomez struck out the side in the ninth to earn his first save, denying Bridgeport the 1,000th win in their franchise's history.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings, before York grabbed a fifth inning lead on a Brandon Haveman RBI single to left-center, extending his hitting streak to 10 consecutive games. It scored Paniagua who had doubled to left with one out.

Bridgeport tied the score at 1-1 on a sac fly to left by Kennard Jones in the bottom of the fifth, the only run allowed by Revs starter Omar Javier in his five innings of work. Javier allowed just three hits and walked only one while striking out two in the no-decision.

Paniagua came through with a clutch two-out, two-run single to right field in the sixth to give York a 3-1 lead, but Bridgeport again tied it in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run homer to left by Brock Peterson.

The Revs pounded 17 hits in the game, including 15 over the final five innings. Paniagua was 3-for-5 with a season-high four RBI. Haveman, Hernandez and Scott all had three hits as well. Scott extended his hitting streak to seven consecutive games.

Notes: The Revs (31-27) have reached four games above the .500 mark for the first time this season, and are now 23-11 since May 24. They have clinched their eighth series win in their last 10 tries, and are unbeaten in their last five road series, winning four of those. They also improve to 17-9 in June, one win away from matching the club record for wins in June, and two wins shy of matching the club record for wins in any month. York is also now 6-3 against Bridgeport this season, 5-1 at Harbor Yard. The Revs have won nine of the last 11 meetings in Bridgeport. The win comes four years to the date of another ninth inning comeback in Bridgeport, when the Revs scored four times en route to an 8-5 win at Harbor Yard on June 26, 2008. York's Chris Cody (4-6, 4.38) will face Bridgeport's Mike Tarsi (0-0, 1.86) at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday night. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
