
Ducks Power Past Patriots 8-3

Bridgewater, NJ- The Long Island Ducks defeated the Somerset Patriots 8-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night.
The Ducks got on the board in the top half of the first on an RBI single by Brandon Sing for the 1-0 lead.
Long Island rallied for two more runs in the top of the fourth inning after Shawn Williams drove a double to the Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-Ã-left field corner to bring home both runners and make the score 3-0.
Somerset scored in the bottom half of the frame on an RBI single by Jeff Nettles. Aaron Mathews then grounded into a double play that plated Freddie Bynum and cut the lead to 3-2.
An RBI triple by Mitch Canham and an RBI base hit by Dan Lyons brought home two runs for the Ducks in the top of the seventh and increased their lead to 5-2.
The Patriots cut the lead to 5-3 in the bottom half of the seventh on a base hit by Adam Donachie that brought home Johnny Drennen.
The Ducks broke open the game in the eighth inning on a three-run homerun by Reid Gorecki (3) for the 8-3 final.
Dan Meyer (2-4) got the win for Long Island after allowing two runs on two hits in six innings of work. Somerset starter Mike MacDonald (2-4) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs on seven hits in six innings pitched.
