York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution closed out their road trip by securing the third three-game road sweep in franchise history with a 3-1 win in Southern Maryland on Thursday evening. The Revs will now return home to open a seven-game, six-day homestand beginning with a War of the Roses showdown against the Lancaster Barnstormers on Friday evening.

The sweep is the second for the Revs this season, both on the road. It's the second time they've swept a road series in Waldorf, and they close the season series with the Blue Crabs by winning the final six meetings, all at Regency Furniture Stadium. The longest winning streak for the Revs in the history of the head-to-head series allows them to finish the year with a 10-10 mark against their cross-division rivals, 8-4 in Maryland.

York right-hander Zack Segovia (1-1) was outstanding in his first start, allowing just three hits and one run in 5.1 innings to earn the win. He walked none and struck out three, and only required 69 pitches to record 16 outs. Three relievers combined to hold the Blue Crabs hitless the rest of the way, as the Revs combined on a three-hitter, matching the lowest total allowed in a nine-inning game by the staff this season.

Southern Maryland scored the game's first run on a two-out single up the middle by Mike Richard in the bottom of the second.

The Revs were held quiet offensively through the first five innings against Blue Crabs starter Gaby Hernandez, but went in front in the top of the sixth. Kody Kirkland led off the inning with a double to left, and after Ofilio Castro worked a walk, Andres Perez drove in both runs with his league-leading 32nd double of the season, ripped down the line and into the left field corner, giving the Revs a 2-1 lead.

Salvador Paniagua homered to left on the first pitch in the ninth off reliever Jordan Conley to provide the insurance run. It marked the second time in as many games that the Revs greeted Conley with a first pitch homer for an insurance run in the ninth inning, as Kirkland did likewise the day before.

Juan Rincon closed it out with his 21st save of the season, adding to his Revs single-season record. Rincon followed Stephen Penney who retired all six batters in two innings of relief. Edward Paredes was first in out of the bullpen, recording the final two outs of the sixth in relief of Segovia.

Hernandez (5-11) suffered the loss for Southern Maryland, allowing two runs in six-plus innings. He exited with the bases loaded and no outs in the seventh, a jam that reliever Eduardo Morlan was able to escape with a strikeout and a double play.

Friday's opener against the Barnstormers is set for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch at Sovereign Bank Stadium, with York lefty Chris Cody (10-6, 3.52) facing Lancaster southpaw Lenny DiNardo (5-7, 4.93). It is Boy Scout Night presented by Gander Mountain, and includes a special game-worn jersey auction with proceeds benefitting Boy Scouts of America New Birth of Freedom Council. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
