
Patriots Top Bluefish 4-1

Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 4-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening.
Somerset struck first on a sacrifice fly by James Skelton in the second for the 1-0 lead.
An RBI base hit by Cory Aldridge the following inning plated another run for the Patriots to make the score 2-0.
Somerset continued to add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth after Joe Holden hit a sacrifice fly to center to bring home Skelton for the 3-0 advantage.
An RBI single by Daniel Mayora in the eighth got Bridgeport on the board to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Patriots brought home one more run in the bottom half of the frame after Corey Smith (15) drove a solo homerun to left field for the 4-1 final.
Somerset starter Graham Taylor (7-4) got the win, allowing a run on four hits in 7.2 innings pitched. Taylor surrendered his first hit of the game with two outs in the seventh inning. Josh Butler (3-8) suffered the loss for Bridgeport after giving up three runs on four hits in 4.1 innings of work. Jon Hunton came on to pitch a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 25th save of the season.
The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Monday, August 12th when they return home to take on the Lancaster Barnstormers. There will be two seven-inning games beginning at 5:05 pm. The game features Star Wars Night and a chance for all fans 21 years and over to Win $10,000 presented by Heineken Premium Light.
