York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution concluded a division-winning first half with a 41-29 record after dropping the finale to the Lancaster Barnstormers, 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Revs will return home to open the second half, kicking off a seven-game homestand with the first of a three-game series against the Somerset Patriots on Monday night at 6:30 p.m.
York scored the game's first run on an RBI single to center in the top of the third by Eric Patterson who picked up his 45th RBI of the season, spotting York a 1-0 lead.
Lancaster used the long ball to take control, as Andrew Clark launched a three-run homer to right-center in the bottom of the third, and Brock Kjeldgaard added a two-run homer that just cleared the short porch in right field in the fourth inning, giving Lancaster a 5-1 lead.
The Barnstormers added one more in the bottom of the sixth on a fielder's choice hit into by Casey Frawley to go up 6-1.
Lancaster starter Chris Schwinden (8-1) allowed just one run over six innings of work to earn the win.
Salvador Paniagua cracked a two-run homer to left in the top of the eighth, his sixth of the year and third in the last week, but that was as close as the Revs would get.
Jason Richardson closed the game with a four-out save, his first of the year.
Revs starter Corey Thurman (3-2) suffered the loss, charged with five runs in 4.1 innings. He entered the game with a 1.93 ERA over his previous six starts.
Notes: York's 41 wins established a new club record for a first half, one better than their 40 victories in 2010. The Revs are now 8-5 against Lancaster in the War of the Roses series this season. Justin Greene, the league's leading hitter, was not in the starting lineup for the first time since signing with York on May 23. York lefty Logan Williamson (1-2, 3.16) will face Somerset southpaw Matt Maloney (4-3, 3.18) in Monday's second half opener. It is Little Caesar's Night at Santander Stadium, as fans who purchase a Revs Meal Deal receive four free field box tickets while supplies last. Tickets are also on-sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
