York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution defeated the Somerset Patriots 2-0 in the opening game of their three-game series in front of 6,895 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday night. The Revs used five pitchers to shut out the Patriots led by starter Matt DeSalvo and finished up by closer Michael Nix. With the win, York has now moved within half a game of Lancaster for the Freedom Division lead. The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night at TD Bank Ballpark.

York struck first in the top of the seventh inning for the second consecutive night to take a 2-0 lead. With the bases loaded and one out, 2B Eric Eymann slapped a two run single that just got by Patriots 2B Matt Hagen to put them ahead with what proved to be the only runs of the game.

DeSalvo pitched five strong innings in his second start since coming back from an injury. DeSalvo only allowed four hits and one walk while striking out six in his start. Revs relievers Ronnie Morales, Sean Stidfole, R.J. Rodriguez, and Nix combined to pitch the final four innings only allowing two hits and no walks. Stidfole earned the win (3-4) pitching a perfect 1.1 innings while Nix earned his 12th save of the season.

Somerset starter Chris Oxspring took the loss (2-6) pitching into the seventh inning where he ended up giving up the only two runs of the game.

The series continues Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. with Revs lefty Jesus Sanchez (2-2, 8.46) taking the mound against Patriots' lefty Derrick Gordon (7-3, 2.64). Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (WPDC) beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
