FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution and New England Revolution Charitable Foundation have teamed up with the You Can Play Project as a part of 'Pride Night' organized by the Midnight Riders at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, June 13 when the Revolution take on the Chicago Fire.
The You Can Play Project will be the official charitable partner of the game, and will provide the Hero of the Match. Additionally, all proceeds from Saturday night's raffle will benefit the You Can Play Project.
"The Revolution are proud to partner with the Midnight Riders in order to support a wonderful organization like You Can Play," New England Revolution President Brian Bilello said. "We believe that it is important that all people, especially young people, have equal access to participate in sports and we are happy to recognize a group that believes the same."
An official partner of Major League Soccer since June 2013, the You Can Play Project is dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, without regard to sexual orientation. You Can Play works to guarantee that athletes are given a fair opportunity to compete, and are only judged by other athletes and fans by what they contribute to the sport.
"All of us at You Can Play are honored to be named the charitable partner for this year's Pride Night," said You Can Play Project Executive Director Wade Davis. "We are grateful to the Revolution and to their supporters for all their effort and outreach to make this event possible. You Can Play has been a partner of MLS since 2013, and over the years, we continue to build upon and expand our partnership with individual teams within the league. By supporting You Can Play, the Revs are sending a message of respect and inclusion for all athletes, coaches, and fans."
Earlier in the day, the Midnight Riders will march in the Boston Pride Parade through downtown Boston. The supporters group will then host a tailgate open to all fans in the Supporters' lot - Lot 4C at Gillette Stadium - before the game, where all proceeds from the sale of Pride-themed items will be donated to the Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (GLAD).
"From the beginning, the Midnight Riders have believed that soccer is for everyone," said Midnight Riders Philanthropy Coordinator Adam Sell. "This event and the collaboration between the Revolution and You Can Play will serve as a reminder that we as a soccer community support our LGBT friends and family, and that they are always welcome to join the Midnight Riders to celebrate soccer with us."
Tickets for Saturday night's "Pride Night" game, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m., start at just $26 and are available now by calling 1-877-GETREVS.
