New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution Academy has added former Revolution goalkeeper Jeff Causey and former Fullerton Rangers head coach Rolando Uribe to the coaching staff ahead of the MLS NEXT spring season.
Causey, a 2008 New England Soccer Hall of Fame Inductee, was the 46th-overall pick in the 1996 MLS Inaugural Player Draft and won the MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup with D.C. United in his first season. Causey played under Revolution Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena at the University of Virginia and as a pro in D.C. The goalkeeper spent six years in Major League Soccer, making 89 appearances and recording over 6,800 minutes played. Causey retired with the Revolution in 2002 after four seasons with the club and began his coaching career as an assistant with the University of Maryland men's soccer program from 2002-03. He then joined the Boston Breakers' coaching staff as an assistant in 2003. He also served as a television analyst for the Revolution from 2012-13.
Uribe, who is USSF National A licensed, becomes the Academy's U-19 head coach after racking up over 30 years of coaching experience. He joins New England from the Fullerton Rangers and has previously coached with the U.S. Youth National Team, Mt. San Antonio College, San Bernardino Valley College, and the Region IV ODP Boys U-14 team. He's also served as a National Instructor with the United States Soccer Federation. Prior to coaching, the Mexico native played professionally in Mexico and for the Anaheim Splash in the Continental Indoor Soccer League. Uribe also has experience as a talent scout and evaluator with the LA Galaxy.
"We're incredibly excited to add Jeff and Rolo to our staff," Technical Director Curt Onalfo, stated. "Their combined knowledge, experience, and familiarity with our staff will help further our organization's goals to develop our players and prepare them for the professional level. We're thrilled to continue building the club's Pro Pathway with these two experienced coaches by our side."
"Adding a former professional player and a deeply experienced coach to our staff really enhances the strength of Revolution Academy and I'm thrilled to begin working alongside them," Academy Director Rob Becerra stated. "Our players are incredibly lucky to learn from Rolo and Jeff and I'm excited to see them get started."
Revolution Academy's MLS NEXT spring season kicks off on March 13, when all four Academy teams will face off against the Boston Bolts.
