Reno's Farmer leads victory over Stampede with 41 points

BOISE, ID - The Idaho Stampede came out strong but ultimately couldn't defeat the Reno Bighorns, losing 116-129.

From the start of the game an electrified Patty Mills went 5-of-5 from the three point line, 7-8 from the field, and scored 22 points all in the first quarter for Idaho.

"We came out with great energy, as the game went on it came down to one of our better players, said Head Coach Bob MacKinnon. Reno did a great job keeping its composure."

The battle between the teams went back and forth into the end of the first half, with Mills coming out on top with 27 points. Reno's Desmon Farmer was heating up and catching Mills with 20 points.

The third quarter proved to be an equally struggling battle for both teams with Mills leading with 29 points and Coby Karl getting 21 points and seven rebounds for Idaho. The Bighorns answered with Desmon Farmer's 26 points and Doug Thomas's 16 points and eight rebounds.

"The team is still in transition which makes it tough," said Reno Head Coach Jay Humphries. I felt that Karl and Mills played well together, and the team played a hard competitive game."

The games' energy shifted towards Reno in the forth quarter, with on fire Desmon Farmer, who scored a franchise record 41 points and nine rebounds. The bighorns launched six players in double figures including Cezary Trybanski with 18 points, Doug Thomas and Mo Charlo with 16 points, Daryl Dorsey with 15, and Russell Robinson with 12. The Stampede delivered three players in the double digits, with Coby Karl getting a lone double-double of 36 points and 10 rebounds.

The Stampede travel to take on the Utah Flash Tuesday, January 19 at 7 p.m. Reno then gets their chance to take on the Flash the following Wednesday, January 20 at 6 p.m.
