
Pittsnogle's Double-Double Not Enough As T-Birds Fall To Energy

DES MOINES, IA, Jan. 17, 2010 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds wrapped up their three game road trip on Sunday night, losing to the to the Iowa Energy, 100-85. Carlos Powell scored 24 points to lead all T-Birds scorers.
Iowa jumped out to a 30-16 lead at the end of the first quarter, and the Thunderbirds were unable to cut the lead to single digits throughout the remainder of the game. Iowa led 54-37 at the half, and pushed the lead to 85-55 at the end of the third.
The Thunderbirds outscored Iowa 30-15 in the fourth quarter to trim the final deficit to 15. Albuquerque was unable to find a rhythm on offense during the game, and recorded a season-high 25 turnovers.
Kevin Pittsnogle scored 23 points and grabbed a game high 11 rebounds for Albuquerque. He connected on five shots from beyond the three point line and also recorded three blocks. Shane Edwards added 10 points and nine rebounds for the T-Birds.
Jeff Trepagnier of Iowa led all scorers with 27 points. Earl Barron added a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Energy.
Albuquerque shot 43.8% from the field for the game, while Iowa connected on 45.8%. The game featured three ties and two lead changes, but none in the final 3 =BD quarters of the game.
