From the Notes
Goodbye: Peter O'Brien, who was promoted back to Arizona earlier today, departs Reno with some of the best numbers in all of baseball. The slugger carries a .330 average (70-for-212) with 17 homers, 4 triples, 13 doubles, 52 RBI and 43 runs scored back to the big leagues. This is O'Brien's second trip to Arizona this season and third of his career.
Hello: Replacing O'Brien's spot on the roster is 25-year-old outfielder Mitch Haniger, transferred from Double-A Mobile this morning. Haniger, rated as Arizona's No. 22 prospect prior to the 2015 season, brings a .280 lifetime average to the table with 41 career home runs, 91 doubles, 204 ribbies and 30 thefts in 41 attempts. Haniger was batting .294 (58-for-197) with 5 homers, 2 triples, 14 doubles and 30 RBI for Mobile prior to his first call-up to Triple-A. Haniger was acquired by the D-backs via trade with Milwaukee on July 31, 2014. Arizona sent outfielder Gerardo Parra to the Brewers in return.
Ribbies Galore: Kyle Jensen drove in another three RBI last night, pushing his season total to 50, second to O'Brien's 52 in the PCL. The 28-year-old has plated 21 runs with five homers over his last nine games.
Tuffy gon Flex: Tuffy Gosewisch finished with two hits again last night, the fifth consecutive game where he's recorded at least two hits. He has hit safely in six straight and 11 of 12 games after he went hitless over five games prior to the run, spanning 11 at-bats.
Brito Bashes: Sócrates Brito racked up four hits again last night, pushing his hitting streak to a season-best 11 games. The outfielder has raised his average 53 points during the run, from .224 to .287. He also has nine RBI over that span after posting 12 in his first 32 games with Reno. The four-hit game was his second of the season and seventh of his career.
