Renegades Welcome New Pro-Football Team: Hudson Valley Fort
August 6, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
Fishkill, NY - Eben Yager, Senior Vice President & General Manager of the Hudson Valley Renegades and Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro today introduced the Hudson Valley Fort, a professional football team playing in the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL). The Fort will play at Dutchess Stadium, the Dutchess County Park the Renegades have called home since 1994. The addition of artificial turf in 2014 was a key factor in the FXFL choosing the Hudson Valley.
"We are very excited the FXFL has chosen the Hudson Valley Renegades and Dutchess Stadium to host the newest franchise in the league," said Yager. "The Hudson Valley Fort will be an exciting new brand that will attract fans old and new to Dutchess Stadium."
The FXFL is headquartered in New York City, and the league counts ESPN3 and more than 20 regional sports networks among its broadcast partners. FXFL games are played on some weeknights to avoid scheduling conflicts with the NFL and collegiate football. In 2014, more than 25 percent of FXFL players received a call back to an NFL team.
"We are proud to welcome Hudson Valley to the Fall Experimental Football League," said Commissioner Brian Woods. "Their exceptional front office staff, coupled with the strong community support of the Renegades, were key indicators that this was a good fit for the FXFL."
"Growing the economic benefit of Dutchess Stadium is a priority for us. Now, we not only celebrate and make use of this field as a traditional baseball stadium, but we welcome other, alternative activities," Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said. "Bringing a Hudson Valley professional football team to Dutchess Stadium is an exciting addition to Dutchess County and the region as a whole." Molinaro added, "Autumn in the Hudson Valley is pretty special; the fall will be better in Dutchess County because we are adding football to the foliage. We look forward to defending the Fort."
The Hudson Valley Fort will be looking for host families to host the players for the duration of the 2015 season. For more information contact Hudson Valley Renegades, Assistant General Manager, Kristen Huss at 845-838-0094.
The first of the team's three regular-season games in Fishkill will take place on October 10th vs the Brooklyn Bolts.
