
Renegades Top Cyclones, 13-4, in Win

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. - The Hudson Valley Renegades exploded for five runs in the fifth and six runs in the sixth, propelling them to a 13-4 victory over the Brooklyn Cyclones on Tuesday night at Heritage Financial Park. Hudson Valley remains just 2.5 games back of first place with eight games to go in the first half.
Five Renegades put together multi-hit games in the win. Beau Brewer was 2-for-2 with four RBIs, while Jesus Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs. Jace Avina was also 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
Brooklyn took an early lead in the top of the second when Wilfredo Lara singled and stole second. Jefrey De Los Santos drove home Lara with a single to make it 1-0 Cyclones.
Christopher Suero reached second on an error in the third. A pair of wild pitches by Jackson Fristoe allowed Suero to come around and score to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Renegades went in front by bringing ten batters to the plate in the fifth and scoring five times. Garrett Martin and Christopher Familia earned walks to start the inning, and an RBI triple by Rodriguez brought both home. Rodriguez later scored on a wild pitch. Rafael Flores then walked, Tyler Hardman doubled, and both runners came home on an Avina RBI single to make it 5-2.
In the top of the sixth Brooklyn answered when Kellum Clark walked and a pair of singles from Nick Morabito and Christopher Suero loaded the bases. A wild pitch scored Clark and Morabito scored on a Junior Tilien sacrifice fly to make it 5-4.
In the bottom of the fifth, Hudson Valley brought 11 batters to the plate, scoring six runs and recording seven hits. Familia singled, Roc Riggio walked, and Jared Serna singled to load the bases. Rodriguez drove home Familia with an infield single, and a Brewer RBI double brought in Riggio and Serna. Avina notched a single to score Rodriguez, and RBI knocks from Martin and Omar Martinez put Hudson Valley in front 11-4.
The Renegades added two more runs in the seventh. A Rodriguez single and Flores double was followed by a Brewer two-run single, making it 13-4.
Brooklyn was limited to just a 2-for-15 clip with runners in scoring position by Hudson Valley pitching, leaving 14 runners on base.
Hudson Valley will look for their third straight win tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. at Heritage Financial Park, with the Heritage Financial Credit Union Pregame Show beginning at 6:15 on the Renegades Baseball Network. Baron Stuart (3-1, 4.19) will start for the 'Gades, while Felipe De La Cruz (3-4, 2.89) will toe the rubber for the Cyclones.
