Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

FISHKILL, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats dropped both games of Thursday's doubleheader with the Hudson Valley Renegades on Thursday night, by final scores of 9-3 and 2-1.

In game one, an early offensive outburst by the Gades put the 'Cats in a hole they would never recover from. Hudson Valley scored eight runs in the first two innings off of 'Cats pitchers Parker Mushinski (L, 0-1) and Michael Horrell.

Jairo Lopez was strong in relief, allowing only one run on two hits in three and two thirds innings, striking out five along the way.

On the offensive side for the 'Cats, Joe Perez continues to swing a hot bat, smashing a two-run shot in the second inning, his fifth home run in just as many games. Korey Lee chipped in with an RBI single in the sixth for the 'Cats.

Game two started well for Tri-City, as Yeuris Ramirez led off the ballgame with a single, and advanced to third on a balk and wild pitch. C.J. Stubbs drove home Ramirez with a sac fly to left, and the ValleyCats took an early 1-0 lead.

The Renegades tied the game in the second with Jacson McGowan scoring on a passed ball by 'Cats catcher Nathan Perry. In the bottom of the third, with Garrett Hiott on second base, Ben Troike lined out to 'Cats center fielder Preston Pavlica, who then threw the ball away as Hiott attempted to advance to third. This allowed Hiott to score the go ahead run, giving the Gades a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish.

Thursday night's losses drop the ValleyCats to 22-30, while the McNamara Division leading Hudson Valley Renegades improve to 30-21. The series continues on Friday night at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, with RHP Kyle Serrano (0-2) taking the hill for the 'Cats. He will be opposed by Renegades righty Evan McKendry (2-1). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
