Lowell Spinners News Release

LOWELL, MA - Going into Thursday night's game, the Lowell Spinners, proud affiliate of the 2018 World Champion Boston Red Sox, were looking to get back to their winning ways when they took on the Vermont Lake Monsters, affiliate of the Oakland Athletics.

The Lake Monsters (24-29) played spoilers in the late-week matchup, handing the Spinners (30-22) a 3-1 loss despite allowing 11 hits to the Stedler-Division leaders.

Vermont got on the board first in the top of the third when they scored three runs in consecutive at-bats - two coming on doubles by Kevin Richards and Lawrence Butler respectively and another on a single by Jorge Gordon. Quickly the Lake Monsters were up 3-0.

Lowell was able to get one back in the bottom of the fifth inning when Stephen Scott doubled home Kervin Suarez, who tripled to lead the inning off.

Aldo Ramirez got the start for the Spinners and went just 1.2 innings, allowing two runs while on the mound, while the third scored after he exited the game. He also allowed three hits and struck out three.

The rest of the way, the bullpen shut the door only allowing a combined three hits while

striking out 10 batters and walking just four.

While the Spinners did lose Thursday night, the Connecticut Tigers also picked up the loss, falling on the road to the Brooklyn Cyclones. The loss gives Lowell a little bit of cushion at the top of the division.
