Wappingers Falls, NY - Double-headers have not been kind to the Aberdeen IronBirds this season. For the third time in 2011, the IronBirds were swept in a double-dip on Friday evening. The Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the IronBirds 3-0 in game one and 5-4 in game two.

Game one was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning. With one down, John Koscso doubled to left-center field. It was the Renegades' first hit of the game off of Aberdeen starting pitcher Jaime Esquivel. Koscso advanced to third on a fly-out to right-field. With two down, Juniel Querecuto laid down a successful squeeze bunt to the left side, scoring Koscso and making it 1-0.

Esquivel would exit after the fifth. In his IronBirds debut, Esquivel allowed just the one run on two hits in five innings. He walked four and struck-out eight.

The Renegades tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning off of reliever Alex Schmarzo. Charlie Cononie (1-1) got the win after pitching three scoreless innings of relief. Esquivel (0-1) took the loss.

In game two, Aberdeen took the early lead. With one man out, Austin Knight singled. Mychal Givens then grounded a single into center field. Renegades center fielder Brian Bryles ran past the ball, allowing it to roll towards the warning track. Knight scored and Givens got to third. Wynston Sawyer knocked in Givens with a ground-out to short, making it 2-0.

Aberdeen tacked on a third run with two outs in the second. Tommy Winegardner doubled. Martin Serrata then hit a line-drive to left-field. Cesar Guillen dropped it. The error allowed Winegardner to score.

Hudson Valley chipped away in the second. With out on and one out, Kyle Holloway hit an RBI-double. On a pitch in the dirt, Holloway ran for third. Catcher Adam Davis threw the ball into left, allowing Holloway to score.

Hudson Valley tied the game in the third with back-to-back doubles from Querecuto and Jeff Malm.

The Renegades took a one-run lead in the fourth. With two outs, Tanner Biagini doubled. Chris Winder hit a groundball to shortstop. Winegardner threw wildly to first, allowing Biagini to score.

Aberdeen tied the game in the fifth. With one on and one out, Glynn Davis hit an RBI-double.

Hudson Valley took a 5-4 lead in their half of the fifth. With one on and nobody out, Bryles hit an RBI-triple.
