Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Tonight's Games

The Aberdeen IronBirds open up their final series of the season with a double-header tonight at the Hudson Valley Renegades (Class-A Short-Season affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays). The IronBirds closed out their home schedule last night with a 5-3 win over the Tri-City ValleyCats. Down 3-1 in the fifth, the IronBirds scored four runs on six hits to take a lead they would never relinquish. Jorge Rivera got the win in his New York-Penn League debut after tossing three perfect innings of relief. In game one tonight, the IronBirds will have right-hander Miguel Chalas on the hill. Fellow right-hander Jaime Esquivel will get the start in game two. Both pitchers are making their IronBirds debuts tonight. They'll go up against a couple of left-handers in Robert Dickman and Ryan Carpenter.

Bats Come Alive

The IronBirds lineup began September on a positive note. The club banged out 13 hits in yesterday's win over the ValleyCats. Mychal Givens and Glynn Davis each had three-hit games. Ryan Zrenda and Tommy Winegardner each had two hits at the bottom of the order. Aberdeen had been held to just two runs over its previous three games before last night's win.

Rodriguez Debut

Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez made his IronBirds debut in last night's win. The 18-year-old allowed three runs on six hits in four innings of work. He walked just one and struck-out four. Rodriguez did not factor into the decision.

Scotty Named O's Bullpen Coach

IronBirds pitching coach Scott McGregor has been named the Orioles interim Bullpen Coach. McGregor will join the O's after the IronBirds' final game on Sunday. McGregor will meet the team in New York City, as they open up a three-game series against the New York Yankees.

Renegades

After a 1-6 start against Hudson Valley, the IronBirds have won three straight games over the Renegades. The season series has been streaky. After Aberdeen won opening night over Hudson Valley, the Renegades rattled off six straight wins against the IronBirds.
