
Renegades Lose Slug Fest to Yankees 16-13

FISHKILL, NY --- Despite pounding out fifteen hits and thirteen runs, twelve of them unearned, the Renegades lost earlier tonight to the visiting Staten Island Yankees, 16-13 to drop to 32-30. Both teams kept the official scorer busy scoring a combined 29 runs, 33 hits and 10 errors during an almost four hour game.
Renegades starter Tony Peguero (L, 4-6) only lasted 3 innings while giving up a total of 8 runs, 5 of them unearned. Yankees starter Brandon Harmsen (W, 3-5) gave up only one earned run in 5 innings of work with an additional six unearned runs crossing the plate while he was on the mound.
Staten Island 3B Eric Duncan made an attempt at hitting for the cycle when he went 4 for 6 with two singles, a double and a triple while knocking in four runs. CF Melky Cabrera matched Duncan's RBI total while scoring 2 runs himself.
Renegades RF Matt Rico is now hitting .434 over his last six games when he went 3 for 6 earlier tonight with one run scored as did 2B Kris Dufner. But by far, 1B Josh Kendrick contributed the most on offense by scoring three times, knocking in 3 runs and going 2 for 6 on the evening.
The Renegades welcome the Williamsport Crosscutters to Dutchess Stadium tomorrow afternoon at 5:11 p.m. LHP Aaron Gangi (4-2, 2.67) will toe the rubber for the 'Gades, while the 'Cutters starter is unknown at press time. Renegades Lunchboxes will be given out at the gates to the first 1,500 children 14 and under. Fans at the game will also have the opportunity to meet author Thomas Baldrick who will be on hand to sign copies of his new book, A Million & One Ways to Celebrate a Child.
