Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
FISHKILL, NY --- In front of a capacity crowd of 4,494 the Renegades lost to the second place Williamsport Crosscutters in a tight divisional battle. Both teams received great starts from their starters, with Yoann Torrealba going seven innings, striking out eleven and allowing no runs. Ashland, Ohio native Aaron Gangi allowed two earned runs of six innings of work. Neither starter was involved in the decision.
Williamsport didn't get on the board until the top of the sixth inning when LF Brett Holmes grounded out, knocking in 3B Craig Stansberry who was on third. Marist College graduate, RF Anthony Bocchino then scored from third when 1B Timothy Brown singled to right field. The Crosscutters scored the deciding run in the top of the ninth when the speedy Nyjer Morgan scored on a wild pitch by RHP Kirk Gosch (L, 0-1) from third base.
Despite scoring 27 runs the previous two nights, the Renegades couldn't muster any offense during this evening's contest. 3B Kris Dufner went 2 for 3 with a run scored after leading off the 8th inning with a walk. 1B Gaby Martinez knocked Dufner in with a double and scored later in the same inning.
The Renegades head to Williamsport for their final two games against the Crosscutters this season. The newest member of the Renegades, LHP Brandon Mann (0-0, 0.00) will take on LHP Tom Gorzelanny (0-1, 1.21) in tomorrow's contest. After going to Williamsport, Hudson Valley will take on the Brooklyn Cyclones for two games and the Jamestown Jammers for three games before returning to Dutchess Stadium for their final three games of the season against Brooklyn.
