In the bottom of the seventh, Lugo crushed a solo homer to lengthen the lead to 6-1, and Newton skied a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth to create a 7-1 cushion.

The Renegades showed fight in the top of the ninth, sending nine batters to the plate against Keyshawn Askew. Jasson Domínguez, Hardman and T.J. Rumfield lined consecutive RBI doubles to cut the deficit to 7-5, bringing Spencer Henson to the plate as the go-ahead run. With two on and two outs, Daison Acosta fanned Henson to close it out.
