Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (0-1), four-time ECHL Pacific Division Champions and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, opened their Pacific Division Semifinals series with a 4-2 Game 1 loss to the Colorado Eagles (1-0) in front of a crowd of 2,276 on Thursday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

The Eagles opened the scoring at 3:19 when Nathan Moon grabbed his own rebound from Joe Cannata, who was without his stick, and fired the puck into the net at 3:19.

Darryl Bootland gave Colorado a two-goal edge on the power-play when he took a pass from Moon and beat Cannata with a wrist shot at 12:11.

The Eagles continued to pile on in the second period, with Chris Duszynski converting on a Moon feed at 4:05, and then Bootland getting his second on the man advantage at 10:51.

Ontario finally solved Eagles goalie Clarke Saunders when David Rutherford worked the puck back to the left point for Alex Roach, and the blueliner beat Saunders to the blocker side with a wrist shot at 17:41.

The Reign tried to climb back into the game by pulling Cannata with a little over four minutes remaining, and managed to close the gap to two goals when Matt Register threw the puck on net from the blue line through a screen at 17:20, but that would be the final tally for the home team.

Cannata took the loss with 13 saves; Saunders earned the win with 27 stops.
