Reign Fall in Defensive Battle to Condors

Bakersfield, CA - The Ontario Reign (8-2-2-0) fell to the Bakersfield Condors (5-6-0-1) 3-0 at Rabobank Arena Saturday night, snapping a three-game winning streak. Forward Michael Mersch led the Reign with five shots on goal.

Box Score The Condors opened the scoring 11:57 into the first period as veteran Ryan Hamilton slipped a shot past Reign goaltender Ray Emery (L, 22 saves on 24 shots) from between the faceoff circles for his fifth goal of the season. Less than two minutes later, the Condors forced a turnover behind the Reign goal line and Kale Kessy knocked in the loose puck for a 2-0 advantage at 13:53.

In the second period, the Reign showcased their AHL-leading penalty-killing unit, denying the Condors on back-to-back man advantages. Forward Jonny Brodzinski nearly cut the lead in half midway through the frame, but rang the post over the glove of Condors netminder Laurent Brossoit (W, 22 saves on 22 shots).

Condors forward Braden Christoffer sealed the victory with and empty-net goal at 18:27 of the third period. The Reign finished the contest 0-for-2 on the power play while the Condors went 0-for-3.

The Ontario Reign continue their three-game road trip with a journey to the Lone Star State on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 to take on the San Antonio Rampage and Texas Stars. The Reign visit the Rampage at AT&T Center on Friday at 5:30 p.m. PT and take on the Stars for the first time this season on Saturday at Cedar Park Center at 5:00 p.m. PT.

The Reign return to Citizens Business Bank Arena on Wednesday, November 25 to host the Stockton Heat at 7:00 p.m.
