Pirates Release Saponari from PTO

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that forward Vinny Saponari has been released from his Professional Tryout Contract.

Saponari, a 6-foot-1, 195 pound right wing from Powder Springs, Georgia, played in six games with Portland this season, scoring one goal and three assists for four points. He also totaled six penalty minutes and had a plus-4 rating.

In his third pro season, Saponari was selected in the Fourth Round (94th Overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers.

The Pirates hit the road for their next four games, beginning today with a showdown against the Providence Bruins from the Dunkin Donuts Center at 3:05 p.m. Voice of the Pirates Jeff Mannix calls all the action beginning with the Pirates Pregame Show, Served by Dunkin Donuts at 2:45, on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network, Presented by Napa Auto Parts.
