March 11, 2010 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
Wheaties take final game
In their final regular season meeting with the Wheaties, the Warriors were unable to stop the some of the top players in the WHL. Calvert, Schenn and Lewandniuk each had a pair of goals. Calvert and Glennie each had a 4 point game. The Warriors only two goals came from Clinton Atkinson, his first of the season and Jason Bast. The Wheat Kings fired an incredible 52 shots Brandon Glover's way. With three Wheatie's goals coming on the power play, the Warriors could just not bounce back. Brandon continues to battle with the Blades and Hitmen for the top spot in the East. Final score 8-2 Brandon.
EDGED OUT BY BLADES
The Warriors were in Saskatoon Tuesday night to take on the Blades. A quiet first period allowed Warriors forward Dylan Hood to be first on the score sheet early in the second period. Blades Wintoneak and Dziurynski were both able to find the mesh before the final buzzer to end the second. Down only a single goal, Jason Bast made it an even score in the third. Patterson fired back with the game winner. Viednesky would get the empty netter to post a 4-2 win for the Blades. Glover made 23 saves on the night.
WHO WILL FACE THE NUMBER ONE SEED COME MONDAY?
Saturday and Sunday will feature a Bronco's and Warrior final stand off to wrap up the regular season. Rallying for the 7th and 8th spots, both teams will be looking for the "W" to help them out in the playoff rankings. The Warriors have had a hard time with the Bronco's this season, winning only one of the 6 previous meetings back in October.
With a win Wednesday night, the Broncos ended the Raiders hopes of breaking into playoffs. The Warriors have only 1 point on Swift. The Warriors must win at least one of the two to maintain the 7th spot. It is sure to be a battle at both barns this weekend.
