
Registration for Copa D.C. XI now open

Washington, D.C. (July 13, 2011) - D.C. United announced today the registration for Copa D.C. XI - presented by Volkswagen is open and available online for the first time ever. Entering its eleventh year, the 6 vs. 6 indoor soccer tournament will take place in October at the Rockville SportsPlex in Rockville, Md.
Group stage games will be played on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2. Teams will play three games on one of these days depending on where they draw. Teams that make it through group play will compete in the knockout rounds, leading to the championship game on Saturday, October 8.
The champion of Copa D.C. XI will receive $3,000, a Championship Trophy and 12 first place medals. The runner-up will take home $1,500 and 12 second-place medals, and the third-place finisher will receive $1,000 along with 12 third-place medals.
Registration for Copa D.C. XI is open to 24 teams this year. Teams are encouraged to register early due to sellouts in past years. Registration is $449 per team ($499 after August 15) and includes: three guaranteed 40-minutes group stage games, 12 tickets to D.C. United's September 24 match against Real Salt Lake, 12 Copa D.C. Uniforms (jersey, shorts, socks) and 12 D.C. United gift bags.
In addition, all teams are invited to attend the first ever Copa D.C. XI Kick-off party prior to the D.C. United vs. Real Salt Lake home game at RFK Stadium, on September 24.
