Reggie Jackson Joins RailRiders Ownership Group

Moosic, Pa. - The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) are excited to announce that "Mr. October" Reggie Jackson is joining the ownership team and will serve as a special advisor to the RailRiders.

Jackson, 70, earned the nickname "Mr. October" for his clutch performances during postseason runs with the Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees. Jackson starred with the Yankees from 1977-1981. He led the Yankees to World Series championships in 1977 and 1978, winning the World Series MVP award for a second time in 1977. Jackson earned 14 All-Star selections, including all five years with the Yankees. He led the American League in home runs four times and earned two Silver Slugger awards. Jackson was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Yankees retired his #44.

"It is a great honor to announce that Reggie Jackson has become part of the RailRiders family and special advisor to the team," RailRiders Managing Partner David Abrams said. "Reggie is involved in many charitable and philanthropic organizations throughout the country and we will be working to extend the reach of those organizations to NEPA."

The RailRiders are currently finalizing details on a "Stay in School" event that will be held during the last weekend of the regular season. Those details will be announced at a later date.

The RailRiders continue their series with the Durham Bulls on Friday night at PNC Field. SWB right-hander Brady Lail (3-2, 3.86) will face fellow righty Jaime Schultz (5-4, 3.39). It's "New Jersey Devils Night" with a special appearances by Devils head coach John Hynes, alumni and mascot. The RailRiders will wear their glow-in-dark uniforms as part of "Glow in the Park Night."
