New Mexico Scorpions News Release
[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-In thrilling fashion the Scorpions netted a 2-1 overtime victory over Amarillo Friday night. Konrad Reeder scored a power play goal 1:37 into overtime for the win.
The Scorpions used their power play to take a first period lead. Chris Robertson delivered a perfect backdoor pass to Konrad Reeder. Reeder calmly put the puck into the net, his fifth straight game with a goal.
Amarillo's lone goal followed suit as they scored with the extra man. Matt Miller's wrist shot from the circle found the net for his third goal of the season. It would be the only blemish on Mike Minard's 31 save performance.
The Scorpions head to Amarillo for a Saturday night affair with the Gorillas. The game starts at 6:05 p.m. and can be heard on 610 The Sports Animal or seen for free on CHL Network. New Mexico will also be at home next Sunday afternoon for a 3:15 p.m. affair against Arizona. Following the game there will be a skate with the Scorpions.
