SOUTHAVEN, MISSISSIPPI - It took 13 games for the Youngstown SteelHounds to fall in regulation as they lose to the Mississippi RiverKings by a score of 4-3 on Friday night.

The Hounds took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission as Steve Birnstill scored his first professional goal off of a pass from newcomer Kirill Starkov at 9:54. The assist is Starkov's first professional point.

That was all the fun the Hounds had on this night as the RiverKings exploded with four goals in the second period. Two power play goals were scored by Jason Lawmaster and Rick Kozak while Ryan Kindret and Aaron Davis scored even strength goals to make it 4-1 after two periods.

Youngstown did not go quietly as Jeff Alcombrack scored his fourth goal of the season with 11:32 to play to make it a 4-2 game. Andy Franck received an assist on the Alcombrack goal. He made 17 saves on 21 shots for the game. The Hounds made it close though as Erik Johnson scored his third goal in as many games to make it 4-3 with 2:09 to play. Sebastien Centomo held the Hounds at bay by making 26 saves on 29 shots to preserve the win for the RiverKings.

It is the Hounds first loss in regulation as they are now 11-1-1 (23 points) but remain in first place in the Northeast Division. Mississippi is now 8-3-0 (16 points) and are now seven points back of Youngstown for first place.

The Hounds will finish the marathon road trip on Saturday night when they take on the Texas Brahmas at 8:05pm. This game is available on SteelHounds.com and AM600 WSOM.
