
Reed Trimble Drives in Five, Including Game Winner, as 'Birds WalK-Off HIllcats for Second Straight Night

SALISBURY, MD. - After blowing a lead with two outs in the ninth for the third time this week, the Delmarva Shorebirds rallied for a 12-11, 10-inning victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats on Saturday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
The win clinches a series victory for the Shorebirds (44-74, 23-30) as they've taken four out of five games this week against the Hillcats (57-62, 23-30).
Delmarva opened the scoring with a bang in the first. After a Reed Trimble sacrifice fly scored the first run of the game, Noelberth Romero stepped up with the bases loaded and walloped a grand slam, his ninth homer of the season, to make it 5-0.
Lynchburg opened their account in the second inning as a wild pitch scored Isaiah Greene from third.
Two more came across for the Shorebirds in the second. Jud Fabian ripped an RBI triple before Trimble scored him with his second sacrifice fly in as many innings.
Jorge Burgos singled home Greene in the third for Lynchburg to trim the 'Birds lead to 7-2.
Delmarva appeared to pull away in the sixth with three runs. Trimble and Ardoin each knocked in runs with singles before an error on a grounder to short allowed another run to score.
The Hillcats hit the comeback trail in the eighth. Greene got it started with an RBI double before a fielder's choice off the bat of Burgos scored another run. Junior Sanquintin knocked in Burgos with a triple before Sanquintin scored on a Carson Tucker single, making it 10-7.
Trimble brought in a crucial insurance run in the eighth with a solo homer, his second homer of the year, making it 11-7.
The comeback was completed in the ninth by Lynchburg. After the first three batters reached, Greene ripped a two-run double, making it 11-9 and putting runners at second and third. Two outs later, a wild pitch plated another run, moving Greene to third representing the tying run. After a walk, another wild pitch allowed Greene to score and tie the game at 11-11.
The Shorebirds managed to rebound and ultimately walked it off in the 10th. After the automatic runner at second, Fabian, was moved to third with a groundout, Trimble played hero with a base hit into rightfield, scoring Fabian, and winning the game 12-11 for the Shorebirds.
Randy Beriguete (1-0) picked up the win in relief for the Shorebirds. Beriguete tossed two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk, striking out three.
Brauny Munoz (2-4) suffered the loss for the Hillcats, allowing an unearned run on two hits, striking out one.
The Shorebirds finish their six-game series against the Hillcats at Perdue Stadium on Sunday, August 28. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m with pregame coverage beginning at 4:50 p.m. on MiLB.TV and theshorebirds.com with Sam Jellinek on the call.
