PEARL, Miss. - The Miami Marlins announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Mississippi Braves at Trustmark Park at 7 p.m.
Right-handed relief pitcher Reid Redman has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to the Suns roster. Redman has pitched in nine games in relief for the Hammerheads with no wins or losses and a 2.63 ERA. In his 13 and two-thirds innings pitched he has stuck out 15 batters while only walking two.
Redman was signed by the Marlins as a minor league free agent in 2013. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 23rd round of the 2012 draft out of Texas Tech.
The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players, plus Rafael Furcal on his major league rehab assignment, and a revised roster is attached.
The Suns and Braves will play game four of this five-game series tonight at Trustmark Park. Jacksonville trots out the lefty Justin Nicolino (2-2, 2.83) while Mississippi counters with the right-hander Williams Perez (2-2, 1.32).
