Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, TENN. - The Blue Wahoos (12-17) were down to their final strike twice on Saturday. Pensacola rallied for three runs in the ninth to even this five game set at two wins a piece with a 3-1 victory over the Jackson Generals (14-15) Saturday night in Jackson in front of 5,201 fans. The loss spoiled seven shutout innings from Cam Hobson who picked up a no decision and hasn't allowed a run in his last 13 innings pitched.

The Generals scored the first run of the game in the second inning. Ramon Morla (1-3 1 R) got his first triple of the year to the gap in right-center and scored on a ground out by Jack Marder (0-3 1 RBI).

The scoreboard remained unchanged for the next six innings as both teams got great pitching and even better defense. Michael Lorenzen went six full for Pensacola, giving up just the one run on four hits. His opposition, Cam Hobson (3-1, 2.52), went a team-high seven innings giving up no runs on four hits.

Jackson's defense was superb all night. Kevin Rivers (1-2, 2 BB) made two nice plays on the warning track in right. Morla recorded four put outs at third and Ketel Marte (1-4) made a handful of plays up the middle including going to his right to make a diving play on a Juan Duran grounder in the third.

Things were good for the Generals until the ninth. Mayckol Guaipe (1-1, 1.50) was trying to pick up his second save of the season in his second inning of work. With one out, Bryan Anderson doubled then with two outs Steve Selsky walked. Down to his last strike Duran singled, scoring two and Pensacola took their first lead. They added insurance when Ray Chang, also down to his final strike, singled and scored Duran from second.

Shane Dyer tossed a perfect ninth to record his second save of the season, and the Blue Wahoos won their second game of the series 3-1. McKenzie, Tenn. native Drew Hayes got his second win of the year after pitching a scoreless eighth.

The two teams will play the rubber match of this series Sunday at 6:05pm at the Ballpark in Jackson. LHP Tyler Olson makes his Double-A debut for Jackson and is opposed by Pensacola RHP Michael O'Brien (0-2, 5.73). Sunday is Family Fun Day Sunday with all kids 12-and-under receiving free admission, free ice cream and free Sonic Fun Zone access.
